A Big Data Landslide Early Warning System with Apache Spark and Scala
Project Description

Never has a time been so fascinating as today for geotechnical engineering: miniaturized sensors, ubiquitous mobile computing and big data analytics. This project merges all three forefront technologies to create an economical, real-time, long-term and highly scalable field monitoring system. A total of 14 billion data points are generated every day in our system. Students in this project will have a hands-on experience to the exciting world of distributed computing with Apache Spark and Scala Programming Languages.
