Biofuels and derived products from spent coffee and tea ground
Project Description

The spent coffee and tea grounds, which are typically disposed to landfills, will be used as raw materials for development of functional materials by using chemical processes, such as extraction and pyrolytic processes. The derived products will be characterized by the high performance liquid chromatography to see the distribution of the extracted products. After the extraction, the residues of both coffee and tea grounds will be undergone the "inert pyrolysis" and the expected carbonaceous materials will be further functionalized and can be used as selective adsorbents for the application of environmental control.
