Project Description

Environmental deterioration and pollution problems in many inland and coastal waterbodies in China threaten public health, food supply and water security of the country. In particular, the densely populated areas of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area face the reoccurring environmental problems such as algal blooms and accidental pollution incidents.

Applicant's Roles

This project is to apply the open-source AI platform and smartphones to develop low-cost AI-based smartphone microscopy for identification of algal species in collaboration with the collaborators in Mainland China for the protection of Environmental Protection. The students will work with the PG students and postdoc to develop this system.
