Enabling Campus-scale Augmented Reality
Project Description

This project aims to explore techniques towards deploying reliable anchors on the HKUST campus for the development of geolocalized AR applications. Among such techniques will be considered Bluetooth and WiFi beacons, GPS localization, Image recognition, and sensor fusion techniques.

Applicant's Roles

The applicant will be in charge of developing and experimenting with the considered techniques. The amount of supervision and the studied techniques will be based on the applicant's capabilities.

Requirements: Knowledge of an object-oriented language (Java/C#) or Python. Some Android, IOS, or Unity application development would be a plus.

During this project, the student will acquire the following technical skills:
- Development of AR applications using Unity
- Object recognition and image processing techniques using OpenCV
- Sensor fusion techniques
