Enhancement of animal growth employing feed supplemented with recombinant growth hormone
Project Description

The application of growth hormone to improving growth rate of animals has been a popular research topic in domestic industry. Several growth hormones and its releasing factors (e.g. fish, dog, porcine) would be expressed in an engineered Bacillus subtilis (well reputed as GRAS) system. Using the whole cell lysate of B. subtilis comprising the recombinant growth hormones or its releasing factors for preparing the supplemented feeds, the body weight and length of the animals will be monitored.

Applicant's Roles

Applicant should assist his/ her individual supervisor for the cloning, expression of proteins and preparing the supplemented feeds. The applicant is also required to monitor the growth rate of the animals.

Applicants can learn the molecular cloning methods, protein expression and bioassays of proteins.
