Food waste monitoring system employing IoT and AI technologies
Project Description

Food is wasted everyday, accounting for 38% of solid waste in HK. It is critical to understand the waste types and their volume before we can reduce and manage the food waste. As HKUST is facing similar issue, we will use our campus dinning halls as the test bed to install a camera-based IoT system for monitoring food waste. The Image data will be collected and transferred to the cloud or server. AI technology will be employed to do image recognition to extract required information.
