The project will help determine how alpha-synuclein, both wild-type and Parkinson’s disease linked mutants, will affect the mitochondrial function.

Applicant's Roles

The applicants will help to determine how alpha-synuclein and its mutants related to Parkinson’s disease (PD) will affect the mitochondrial function in the cells. The applicants will generate constructs that will tract the process of mitophagy, a cellular process that will eliminate defective mitochondria, and contribute to the cell death in PD.
