Tangibles Interfaces in Augmented Reality
Project Description

Interacting with intangible 3D content in Augmented Reality is a challenge. Tangible interfaces are physical objects that enable us to manipulate virtual content.
In this project, we will explore how tangible interfaces can improve user interaction in Augmented Reality. We will explore multiple tracks, from active interfaces (embedding sensors and computing capabilities) to passive image recognition techniques.

Applicant's Roles

Role/Duties: development of a tangible interface for AR applications
Skills: Depending on the applicant's competences, different themes will be considered. As such, the project requires the applicant to have one or several skills as follows: electronics, 3D printing, image processing and object recognition, unity development, mobile application development.

Applicant's Learning Objectives

During this project, the student will acquire the following technical skills:
- Development of AR applications using Unity
- Object recognition and image processing techniques using OpenCV
- Fundamentals of interaction design and HCI
- Knowledge on how to conduct user-centric research and write scientific papers.
