Integrated microlasers using dye-doped polymer printed by laser lithography

Project Description:This UG research project in optics & photonics aims to develop integrated micrometer-sized lasers using dye-doped polymer. The polymer microlasers will be fabricated on a glass substrate using an advanced three-dimensional laser nano-printing technology available at the Nanosystem Fabrication Facility (NFF). The student will explore various geometrical designs of the microlasers using a CAD layout drawing tool, including a linear structure, a disk, a ring, a hemisphere, a sphere, or any geometrical structures that can be laser-printed etc. The microlasers can be an individual structure or in an array form. Such integrated microlasers will be useful light sources for advanced optical sensing. DELIVERABLES: • A dye-doped polymer microlaser on a chip patterned by laser nano-printing
