Project Title:
Synthetic Tactile Sensing For Prosthetic Fingers
Supervisor:LEUNG Suk Wai Winnie
Project Description:The goal of the project is to go through a full design process towards synthetically replicating the sense of touch for prosthetic hand users. The team will first investigate and define the constituent senses of touch, e.g. pressure, roughness, heat flow. The team will then experiment with ways to acquire and relay such senses to the prosthetic hand user.

Applicant's Roles:Successful candidates are expected to work in a team to design the prostheses. Students interested in this project should have a combination of strong practical skills, either electronics prototyping skills (embedded programming, circuit design etc.) or mechanical prototyping skills (CAD, digital fabrication etc.) and adequate mathematical background to understand and implement signal processing techniques.
