Human Comfort Sensing for Intelligent Building Technology
One of the key issues in an intelligent building is how to detect human's comfort. It requires an effective sensor to measure thermal sensation. This project aims to, based on our latest research of micro-nano skin thermal sensors, develop a novel thermal sensation sensor used in the sensing and control of personalized ventilation in office buildings. The sensor measures user's metabolic rate to obtain thermal sensation, and then wirelessly transmits the data to adjust proper air velocity, humidity and temperature for user. Metabolic rate can be characterized by skin microcirculation, heart rate, galvanic skin response, temperature, humidity and heat flux due to the thermoregulation inside body.

The studnet will use the latest accurate micro-nano skin thermal sensing technology enables the key technology of metabolic rate measurement, and analyzes data on user's physiological responses under different temperatures, humidity and air velocities by machine learning and data mining technologies; the key integrated sensing technology used in thermal sensation precise measurement and personalized ventilation will be developed.
