Bimetallic Photocatalysts for Antibiotics Degradation

Antibiotics in clinical wastewater is a long-lasting problem for their remediation due to their antibacterial nature to the biological treatment process. Recent technology using photocatalytic oxidation process offers an alternative to such degradation process. This project is to fabricate a bimetallic supported catalysts for the antibiotics degradation with the aid of irradiation source. Different kinds of metal-based catalysts will be attempted and investigate their synergistic effect on their catalytic activity of antibiotics degradation.

Applicant's Learning Objectives:
To teach student how to prepare, characterize, and evaluate the catalytic materials. Training on different characterization techniques as well as the setup of reactor system will be given for their learning purpose.
