Molecular Mechanism of Cell Competition and Tumorigenesis

Project Description:Cell competition is an intrinsic defense system that viable but unfit or oncogenic cells are eliminated by neighboring cells in multicellular organisms. The molecular mechanism of cell competition and its role in tumor initiation is largely unclear. Using genome-wide profiling and screening techniques, we have identified a number of potential candidate genes and pathways critical for elucidating the mechanism of cell competition.

Applicant's Roles:The applicants will participate in analyzing the genes and molecular pathways involved in cell competition.  
Applicant's Learning Objectives:The applicants will learn how to approach a research topic analytically and systematically. The applicants will receive technical training in molecular biology, cell biology, genetics and developmental biology. The applicants will learn how to effectively present scientific findings.
