Engineering intein-mediated expression platforms for cost-effective production of proteins in Bacillus subtilis

Project Description:Based on the successful applications of B. subtilis and intein systems, this project aims to: (i) study the applicability of inteins and mini-inteins to protein expression; (ii) investigate the cleavage mechanism(s) employed by inteins; (iii) explore the possibility of engineering an intein-mediated protein expression system using B. subtilis.

Applicant's Roles:Applicant should assist his/ her individual supervisor for the cloning, expression and purification of the fusion proteins for the protein analysis. 
Applicant's Learning Objectives:Applicants can learn the molecular cloning methods, protein expression, purification and sequence analysis of protein.
