Project Title:
The intein approach for efficient production and purification of recombinant proteins in Escherichia coli

Project Description:The intein system became one major tool for recombinant protein expression and purification. To facilitate recombinant protein expression and purification, several expression systems are developed, one example is the intein-mediated protein expression and excretion system in Escherichia coli, making use of both culture medium and cytoplasm to produce recombinant proteins, such as human epidermal growth factor (EGF), human basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and Endoglucanase (Eng). Large scale expression and purification of fusion proteins would be investigated.

Applicant's Roles:Applicant should assist his/ her individual supervisor for the large scale expression and purification of the fusion proteins for the protein analysis. 
Applicant's Learning Objectives:Applicants can learn to maximize the protein expression and purification.
