Project Title:
Molecular study of genes in brain functions and diseases

Project Description:To investigate the roles of the genes that are important for brain functions such as learning and memory, and the relevance of these genes in neuropsychiatric diseases such as autism. Specifically, we focus on the roles of these genes in synapse formation, synaptic plasticity and protein trafficking. Only for year2 (three year program) or year3 (four year program) students in Life Science with GPA B+ or above. Supervisor's prior consent is required.

Applicant's Roles:The applicant is expected to work with a graduate student or other research staff in the lab to carry out specific experiments related to the project. The exact experiment assigned will be based on the applicant's existing knowledge and lab skills. Requirement: good academic performance (Average B+ or above), Year 2 or above life science majors. 
Applicant's Learning Objectives:To learn the basic knowledge and techniques in molecular neuroscience studies, including cDNA cloning, protein purification, neuronal culture, immunostaining etc.
