Development of Innovative Na-ion Batteries

Project Description:Large scale storage electrical energy is key for a storing energy from renewables. Lead-acid batteries have long provided large-scale stationary energy storage. However, they are dangerous and polluting. Li-ion batteries could be an alternative but they are too expensive because of limited lithium supply. Therefore, other options to both technologies are highly needed and Na-ion batteries are potential candidate. In this project the student will develop novel symmetrical batteries for energy storage. Applicant's Roles: The applicant will: 1. Assemble the battery 2. Test the performance of the battery 3. Test the operational mechanism of the battery
