Controlling Confinement Effect of Polymer Dynamics

The dynamics of many polymers have been found to alter upon confinement in nanometer films. In this experiment, one will attempt to control the confinement effect by mixing polymers that exhibit dynamic enhancement upon confinement with those that exhibit dynamic depression. Where appropriate, composition profile in the films will be studied to understand the research outcome. Under the guidance of the supervisor and designated group members, the student will prepare the samples; plan for and carry out the experiments; analyze, interpret and present the research result.
