** The application of BIG DATA technologies in precision cancer medicine

Project Description:Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide. The recent progress in high-throughput experimentation and big data technologies have provided a novel opportunity to address this project in silicon. This project aims to mine genomic and clinic data from a large number of cancer patients. More information can be found at http://wang-lab.ust.hk/index.html.

Applicant's Roles:This project requires strong programming skills and solid quantitative background. Students who are good at statistics, linear algebra or computer science are preferred. The applicants will handle a large amount of data from hospital and develop machine-learning or deep-learning methods to predict optimal treatment for individual patients.  
Applicant's Learning Objectives:1. understand the basic concept of precision cancer medicine; 2. be able to develop algorithms or pipelines to study large-scale sequencing data.
