DESIGN OF RADIO-FREQUENCY INTEGRATED CIRCUITS
Project Description
The main objective of this project is to study and to design radio-frequency (RF) integrated circuits and systems at the transistor level. The students will be encouraged to investigate and to select one or few of the RF building blocks to work on, among which could be low-noise amplifier, mixers, voltage-controlled oscillator, frequency divider, and power amplifier. After the specifications are defined, the students are to study existing solutions before starting doing the design. The deliverables include circuit design, pre-simulation, layout, and/or post-simulation for evaluation and comparison.

Depending on the students’ interest, the project can focus on a building block for one of the following systems:
1. Modeling of passive components at RF frequencies.
2. Design of a radar system at 24GHz/60GHz/77GHz.
3. Design of RF front-end circuits in CMOS.
4. Design of a high-power LTE power amplifier
