Project Description

This project is to process/apply in house developed transparent UV-proofing and IR blocking nanocomposite coating on the selected campus buildings (gate shelter, academic building, volunteer faculty house and student dorm, etc.) and analyze/monitor the performance and economic benefit.

Applicant's Roles

The students need to prepare and apply the nanocomposite coating solutions on internal surface of windows following the given instructions and collect the data in the given duration to analyze performance and economic benefit. The students should have basic materials processing or related skills or are willing to learn new things.

Through this SSC related project, students will learn:
1. how to prepare, process, and analyze nanocomposite coating on various campus buildings;
2. how to perform teamwork and how to develop nanocomposites;
3. how to promote lab technology to campus as living lab;
4. how to educate public that materials innovation can give us a sustainable campus.
