Water Quality Survey for Hong Kong's Marine Fish Farming Zone
Project Description
This is an on going survey contract with AFCD to do monthly survey of the water quality of the marine fish farming locations around Hong Kong's coastal waters. Hydrographic, water chemistry and biological parameters, including temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, inorganic nutrients, chlorophyll concentrations, total suspended solid, bacteria abundance, etc., will be measured.

Applicant's Roles
Applicant will join some field samplings on board a small research vessel and be responsible for the measurement of one of the parameters. Students can also only perform lab operations, such as filtrations and other measurement if they are seasick.
Applicant's Learning Objectives
Student will learn the basic operation of marine research and understand the water quality and ecological condition of Hong Kong coastal environments.
