Project Title:
Investigation of corrosion of stainless steels in waste water treatment
Supervisor:TAO Hong
Project Description:Waste water treatment plays an important role in establishing a sustainable water cycle. In waste water treatment, stainless steel 316 are commonly used as pipeworks materials together with various membrane equipment to treat the generated sewage before discharge. Although stainless steel 316 is popularly believed to be corrosion resistant, they do corrode under some conditions, depending on certain ions concentration in the waste water, the quality of the stianless steel, and the design factors of the pipeworks, etc.. In this project, student(s) will obtain comprehensive understanding of corrosion mechanism of stianless steel 316 and study the ways of controling the corrosions to minimum.
